The Experience
This is the tour for those who want to understand AlUla at its deepest level. Beyond the famous Nabataean tombs of Hegra, this full day takes you into the ancient Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms — civilisations that flourished here long before Petra was built.
At Jabal Ikmah — the Open Library — you'll stand before thousands of ancient inscriptions carved into cliff faces in multiple scripts: a living record of AlUla's role as a crossroads of civilisations. Then the day continues through Old Town, the living oasis, AlJadidah's contemporary arts, and ends at Elephant Rock as the light turns golden.
Along the way, Abdullah serves traditional Arabic coffee and tea in a scenic mountain setting — a moment of stillness in the middle of a day that spans millennia.

"Hegra is famous. But Dadan and Jabal Ikmah — that's where you understand how ancient and extraordinary this place truly is."
— Abdullah, AlUla Destination Specialist
Your Day
From UNESCO heritage to ancient kingdoms — the most complete archaeological day in AlUla.

Stop 01
Hegra
Duration
2 hours

Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore ancient Nabataean tombs carved directly into rose-coloured sandstone cliffs — some of the best-preserved in the Arabian Peninsula. The official site is managed by the Royal Commission for AlUla; your guide accompanies you through the experience.

Dadan was the capital of the ancient Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms — one of the most important pre-Islamic civilisations in Arabia. Nearby Jabal Ikmah is known as the Open Library: a cliff face covered in thousands of ancient inscriptions in multiple scripts, a testament to AlUla's role as a crossroads of civilisations. Entry tickets are included.

A labyrinth of mud-brick houses, narrow alleys, and traditional souqs that tell the story of AlUla's centuries of continuous habitation. Your guide shares the stories behind the stones — the families, the trades, the daily life of a town that thrived for 900 years.

Walk through a living oasis that has sustained life in this desert valley for thousands of years. Date palms, citrus groves, and the scent of fresh water in the middle of the desert — a quietly extraordinary contrast to the ancient stone landscapes.

AlUla's creative heart — a cluster of galleries, studios, and cultural spaces where contemporary Saudi art meets ancient heritage. Browse, explore, and discover the new generation of AlUla's cultural identity.

One of AlUla's most iconic natural landmarks — a massive sandstone formation shaped over millions of years into the unmistakable silhouette of an elephant. The perfect place to end the day as the light turns golden and the desert glows.
